Summer Yoga Retreat at Ananda Ashram

Monroe NY, August 2 – 4, 2019

Are you ready for a weekend away on retreat?  Join Chaya and the Shree community for a weekend escape to Ananda Ashram. Just a 35 minutes drive from Shree located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, the Ashram provides a serene, natural environment with woods and meadows surrounding a lake. Accommodations are simple yet comfortable and meals are vegetarian.  We will ebb and flow with the existing ashram schedule: joining in the morning and evening offerings with other groups and residents yet doing our own exclusive yoga practice lead by Chaya in a beautiful space just for us.

Ashrams have existed in the East from the earliest period of civilization as places of meditation, spiritual practice and refuge, where teachers and students lived and worked in togetherness. Ananda Ashram strives to maintain a distinguished, nonsectarian spiritual and educational standard throughout.

Your Retreat Includes

  • Ashram lead morning and evening meditation and fire ceremony
  • 3 Anusara level I and restorative asana classes with Chaya
  • 2 nights and 2 days of yoga and relaxation
  • 3 Full vegetarian, primarily organic and locally sourced meals a day:
  • Outdoor in-ground swimming pool (bring a bathing suit and towel for this)
  • Hiking trails and walks
  • All bedding, bath towels
  • Time to explore the gift shop
  • Evening Kirtan (chanting)
  • Cell phone service and wifi available

Friday:

  • 4:00 pm Check in and free time
  • 5:30 – 6:30 pm Dinner
  • 6:30 – 7:15 Orientation and Intention Setting in Lake House Studio
  • 7:30 Ashram lead Meditation and Fire Ceremony followed by a chant or reading on yoga in Main House

Saturday:

  • 8:00 – 9:00 am Breakfast
  • 9:00 – 9:45 Ashram lead meditation and Fire Ceremony for healing and world peace Main House
  • 10:30 -12:30 Yoga with Chaya Lake House Studio
  • 12:30 Lunch and Free time
  • 3:00 – 3:45 Optional guided journaling and discussion Lake House Studio
  • 4:00 – 5:30 Gentle yoga with Chaya Lake House Studio
  • 5:30 – 6:30 pm Dinner
  • 7:30 Ashram lead meditation and Fire Ceremony followed by a Kirtan or chant in the Main House

Sunday:

  • 8:00 – 9:00 am Breakfast
  • 9:00 – 9:45 Ashram lead meditation and Fire Ceremony for healing and world peace Main House
  • 10:30 – 12:30 Yoga with Chaya Lake House Studio
  • 12:30 Lunch
  • 1:00 – 2:00 Check out and departure

Registration

We will be housed in two adjacent buildings.  Shanti Sadhanam is a brand new facility completed this year.  All rooms are doubles with shared hallway bathrooms.  The Lake House is a lovely building that houses our yoga studio overlooking the lake.  All Lake House rooms are doubles with shared hallway bathrooms.  If you want a single, you are basically paying for the second bed in your room as reflected in the rates below.

1. The Lake House (where the yoga studio is located) has 8 doubles with twin beds and shared bathrooms in the hallway.

1a. Double room (two twin beds, shared bathroom) $400 per person early bird, $450 after 5/1

1b. Single room (twin bed) shared bathroom $585 early bird, $635 after 5/1

2. Shanti Sadhanam is a brand new building with 4 doubles with twin beds and shared hallway bathrooms.

2a. Double room  $490 per person early bird discount, $540 after 5/1

2b. Single room $765 early bird discount, $815 after 5/1

No refunds after July 1, 2019 as we will be committed to Ananda for your spot. If we are able to find someone to take your place, we will refund you less $100 admin fee.  Full refunds prior to July 1 less a $100 admin fee.
